George Williams gets immediate release from the Raiders

 The Canberra Raiders have announced that English halfback George Williams has been released from his contract effective immediately. Williams asked for a release on compassionate grounds for the end of 2021, but he withdrew from training and this week’s match which prompted the club to grant an immediate release. Williams joined the Raiders at the start of 2020 on a three-year-contract and managed just 32 games for the club over his 18 months in Canberra.  Canberra mother Jacqui Landos was told in February her 54-year-old son James, who has an intellectual disability, would be among the first in line to get a COVID-19 vaccine which would be delivered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Three months later James remained unvaccinated despite being in the 1B priority group, and Mrs Landos said she had heard nothing from federal health authorities.  Crash on Canberra Avenue slows traffic Traffic slowed to a crawl for drivers on their morning commute on Wednesday following a crash in Fyshwick. Drivers travelling towards the city from Queanbeyan experienced extended commute times and were encouraged to avoid the area. The motor vehicle crash occurred on Tom Price Street just after 8.30am. ACT fire and ambulance services were on scene shortly after. The accident has since been cleared and traffic is moving steadily again. For those with inherited wealth or who entered the property market in better times, speculating in property is like shooting fish in a barrel. Sadly, the "fish" being shot are opportunities for our young people and others priced out of the rigged housing market. Canberra suburbs to be upgraded to faster internet

Suburbs across Canberra's south and inner north will get access to faster internet but ACT federal MPs say it does not go far enough. Banks, Campbell, Conder, Dickson, Gordon, Hume, Lyneham, O'Connor, Reid and Turner are set to have their national broadband network infrastructure upgraded. The suburbs would the first in Canberra to be upgraded to faster internet since the federal government announced its $4.5 billion upgrade to the NBN last year.
