CEO Sleepout comes to Fyshwick carpark

 This year’s St Vincent de Paul Society CEO Sleepout will have an additional location at the Dirty Jane’s Canberra carpark on Collie Street, Fyshwick, where the industrial hub’s CEOs and business leaders will trade their working gear for sleeping bags.

The CEO Sleepout, which will be held on the long night of Thursday 17 June, will shine a spotlight on the issues of homelessness, food insecurity, housing affordability, and lack of suitable housing in the ACT region.

 Once home to ageing office blocks, an inward-facing shopping centre and sun-baked open-air car parks, Woden town centre is undergoing a personality change. The 2015 master plan for the area, and the promise of an extension to Canberra's light rail, has kickstarted urban infill and a growing culture of apartment living. The population of Phillip — in which the town centre lies — almost doubled from 2016 to 2021, with most of the extra residents living in newly built apartment blocks. Terry Campese steps down as Labor's candidate for Monaro at NSW election

 Former NRL player and Labor hopeful Terry Campese has withdrawn his candidacy for the seat of Monaro in the upcoming NSW election. He is the fourth Labor candidate to resign ahead of the election. His decision comes after a media report revealed he visited a school friend convicted of drug dealing at Macquarie Correctional Centre last year to raise money for his charity — the Terry Campese Foundation.
