Australia floods: Thousands evacuated as downpours worsen

 Some 18,000 people have been evacuated from severe floods across New South Wales (NSW) in Australia, with more heavy rainfall predicted.

The state's entire coast is now under a severe weather warning.

Days of torrential downpours have caused rivers and dams to overflow around Sydney - the state capital - and in south-east Queensland.

The military is being deployed to help with search and rescue, in what has been called a "one-in-50-years event".

Skywhale hot air balloon grounded after developing tear 'in one of her breasts'

Canberra hot air balloon sculpture Skywhale has been grounded and is set to undergo repairs after developing a tear "in one of her breasts" in Ballarat this weekend. The famous balloon and its partner, Skywhalepapa, were both in Ballarat as part of the touring Every Heart Sings project, but were deflated before lift-off due to the damage Skywhale sustained.
