People are surprised when I tell them that I have not used chemical cleaning and disinfecting products for the past five years. I understand their surprise because it is a common misconception that you cannot clean deeply without store-bought products. Through this blog, I am going to bust this myth.

Before 1916 animal fats and vegetable oils were used to make soaps; however, that changed with the invention of chemically synthesised soaps that are known as detergents today. Since many toxic cleaners were developed, causing air, water, and land pollution. However, it is time we changed our methods of cleaning by shunning products with potentially hazardous chemicals and started using natural ingredients to do our bit for making Earth clean and green

Dump Chemical Cleaners At Home
The first step to make your home clean and sanitary without affecting the environment is to get rid of toxic cleaning solutions and powders at home. Read the labels to dump these cleaners safely. If there are no instructions, then call on the customer support number to get direction. Besides this, contact your local recycling centre to drop the plastic, glass, or metal containers. Taking these measures is necessary to avoid contamination of water sources in Canberra and the dumping of toxic garbage in landfills.

Make a Green Cleaning Kit
After getting rid of commercial cleaners get a container to hold eco-friendly products and tools to make a green cleaning kit. The things you will need to clean any part of your home are mentioned as follows:
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Vegetable-oil based detergent or soap
  • Anti-bacterial essential oils
  • A natural and non-toxic all-purpose cleaning concentrate
  • Cellulose sponges
  • Microfiber cloths
  • Pumice stone
  • A bottle of vodka for disinfecting
  • a variety of bio-degradable brushes
Note: Check the list of ingredients of ‘green’ or ‘natural’ cleaners because according to Green marketing and the Australian Consumer Law, companies in Canberra can make false claims.

Invest in Eco-friendly Cleaning Tools
If possible, purchase useful environment-friendly cleaning tools like energy-efficient steam cleaners, microfiber products, and green label-certified vacuums with HEPA filters. By using these types of equipment, you can reduce the amount of water and cleaning product is used for sanitation.

Wrapping Up
I hope this write-up was useful, and you learned some practical eco-friendly ways to keep your home clean and sanitary. By adopting green cleaning methods, you will feel at peace because your family will not be exposed to harmful chemicals at home, and you will contribute to preserving Earth’s environment.
